Review:
The goliath of all fighting games ever comes to the Saturn with the help of the 4mb expansion cart direct from the arcades, and it's just plain OMFG! Everyone talks about Radiant Silvergun and this or that, but it was the fighting games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter that really showed off the Sega Saturn's muscle, and sheer superiority over it's 32bit counterparts. This title is nearly 10 years old and has yet to be rivaled!
X-Men vs. Street Fighter is possibly the ultimate "arcade perfect" fighter summoning not 2 but 4 gargantuan sprite based characters at once on the screen without any slowdown and no loading times. The color pallet throughout is explosive to say the least! You will not find a more perfect arcade fighter anywhere, even on today's so called "next generation" systems. This is thee fighting game to play.
While the control with the digital pad is excellent and well laid out, this is a title that will make you dig out the arcade sticks for sure for the ultimate experience.
I cannot say enough about how beautifully done this title is, and I'm not one of the biggest fans of the fighters! This is a magnificent title that shouldn't be missed!
The 4mb expansion cart is necessary otherwise this game will not run, and I cannot implore you enough to run this via your s-video or scart cable on a good tv. This is the very definition of bringing the arcade experience to your living room, and you don't even need any quarters!!!
